Project Overview - Shopping Kitchen
One of the main features is that users can always look for kitchen products, or something they want from a live-streaming video - Gordon Ramsey cooking video as an example, users can then crop the products they want and the app will find the most related products search results. It creates a huge opportunities for any users to buy at any time, anywhere and anything related for household or cooking products, pretty much similar to Fashion Spots App, just different target audiences.
Improvements of User Flows & Features
Before the big revamp, the whole user experiences are very bad and doesn't have an outstanding features to stand out from the crowd. We decided to add recipes section which allow user to upload their own recipes or search for other famours recipes from cooking experts or other users. When they are looking at some cooking videos by using the app, they can use the featurs of cropping the desired products from the live-streaming video, and the app will automatically find the most related results for the users. That is the very unique features we want to push out for our current users and try to attract more new users to use the app for recipes sharing and shop for the products they want.
Visual Improvement & Lean UX Approach
Regarding the overall look & feel, the previous design is very packed, wrong spacing between tiles on homepage, wrong use of hamburger menu. The first thing I did is to take out the hamburger menu and use a bottom navigation to drive more conversion rate. I also used nice and bigger photos for different categories, increase the font sizes and give more spacing between paragraph.
From the business goals of a startup, we want to push the product as rapidly as we can so Lean UX will be more appropiate for this purpose. We will see if there is a market demands first and will keep building features based on customer needs and feedbacks.
As a UX and Visual Design Lead of this project, I need to create simple wireframes, detailed user-flows and visual design. Apart from that I also need to include a simple but detail style guide for the whole app (pretty easy by using Sketch plug-in).
The latest versions of the app will be on AppStore and Google Play soon.
